Ever since its official launch in 2006, Roblox has amassed a solid, incredibly loyal player base numbering in the millions (if not billions). Even now, in its 16th year, it’s still going strong. It has reported 43.2 million daily active users worldwide.

No doubt about it; that’s impressive.

Thanks to huge brand collaborations, loyal, active players, and a unique business model that depends largely on consumer-generated content, Roblox continues to be a one-of-a-kind company and gaming platform. On top of its extensive community, Roblox has several other features that make it one-of-a-kind and uniquely irreplaceable.

Don’t worry; that’s where we come in. We’ve curated the 12 best Roblox games to play. From high-speed platformers to intense RPGs, games that teach strategy, and games that teach coding for kids, these are the ones we’re certain you’ll enjoy!

I. Roblox Studio

This may not necessarily be a game, but it can certainly feel like one!

Roblox Studio is Roblox’s own game design and development engine. Users can build, test, and modify their own unique and playable games using the Roblox toolbox. The user interface and systems are so intuitive, kids can easily create whatever game they want with presets and pre-existing elements provided by the studio.

From simple object and/or terrain manipulation to more advanced coding and scripting, the studio has a wide range of comprehensive tools available for all skill levels. For young, budding developers, it’s a great way to practice coding for kids!

What’s more, kids can make their custom game a reality by uploading their finished product onto the Roblox website … for free! As we mentioned earlier, Roblox is a community of creators supporting other creators. All Roblox games were designed and scripted by fellow Roblox players using Roblox Studio.

II. Natural Disaster Survival

Natural Disaster Survival is a fairly popular Roblox game that’s recently gotten a lot of attention. The whole game takes place on a single island that player characters cannot leave. The primary goal? Survive a slew of random, natural disasters (like meteor showers, floods, and earthquakes)—hence the name. You’ll have to use different strategies to protect yourself, and it’s not always a hundred percent obvious what those strategies are. A lot of creative, out-of-the-box thinking is required. If you love games that keep you on your toes, this one’s going to be a favorite, for sure.

III. Theme Park Tycoon 2

Even if you’ve never played Roblox before, we’re fairly certain you’re familiar with Theme Park Tycoon 2. It’s one of those games that everyone seemed to know and play, and it launched a whole plethora of games that followed the same style and genre.

The concept is pretty simple; you just need to build your own theme park. Choose your amusement park rides, customize them to fit your theme, and optimize your park to maximize customer enjoyment and profit.

You’ll face more intense challenges as you continue to grow and expand, so keep an eye on your park statistics!

Just like coding for kids, Theme Park Tycoon 2 really helps build decision-making and critical problem-solving skills. The design and customization aspects of the game also heavily appeal to creatively-inclined kiddos.

IV. World//Zero

If you love playing MMORPGs (massively multiplayer online role-playing game), World//Zero is right up your alley. The entire concept of the game is to get out, explore, fight, conquer, and level up alongside your friends and fellow Roblox players.

Smooth, seamless gameplay coupled with amazing graphics and a pretty sweet soundtrack makes it near impossible to stop playing. It helps that players are never left wanting for activities. There’s always a challenge to complete, a task to fulfill, a dungeon to explore, or a tower to raid.

During downtime, players can also raise pets or explore different maps.

Fun fact: in 2019, World//Zero received the Bloxy Award for Best Use of Tech. They won another Bloxy award in 2020 for Most Immersive Experience.

V. Adopt Me!

Adopt Me! Is one of the cutest Roblox games around—and easily one of the most-played RPGs on the Roblox platform. It’s an incredibly extensive simulation game wherein players take on the role of either surrogate parents or adopted children.

The main goal is to make sure their everyday needs are fulfilled. It’s pretty similar to EA’s The Sims games, only with more cute animals and a lot less gibberish. In fact, it seems like Adopt Me!’s biggest draw right is its collectible pets. It’s gotten to the point that there are multiple internet posts and how-to videos listing all the pets in Adopt Me! and how to, well, adopt them!

Adopt Me! also happens to be a Roblox game that receives weekly updates and regular time-limited events. The constant influx of new content, plus the promise of prizes, is all part and parcel of what makes this game such a cool experience.

VI. Jailbreak

Jailbreak is another incredibly popular Roblox game that literally everyone knows about. It’s got all the makings of a great game: cops, robbers, cars, and plenty of in-game, high-stakes action.

Although categorized as a harmless Town & City game by Roblox, a lot of players seem to agree that Jailbreak is the family-friendly, LEGO-like version of GTA (Grand Theft Auto) Online. Players get to choose only one side: Cop or Criminal. If you play as a Criminal, you go on Heists. These heists give you sweet, sweet loot that you can later use to decorate your swanky apartment.

Of course, you only get that apartment after you’ve successfully broken out of jail.

If you play as a Cop, you’ll get a lot of cool tools and weapons, like a pistol, a taser, and a set of shiny, sturdy handcuffs. These’ll help you achieve successful Raids. Keep those criminals behind bars or else the game will explode into a full-scale, open-world chase scene.

Jailbreak is currently on its third season of updated content, so there could very well be some new elements and surprises just waiting for players to find!

roblox_blox_fruits

VII. Blox Fruits

Inspired by the One Piece Japanese animated show, Blox Fruits is a game wherein players are granted wonderful, wacky, or just plain weird abilities by consuming – you guessed it – Blox Fruits. The type of fruit you eat determines the power you get.

Once you’ve eaten the fruit, your mission is to practice, train, and level up as you progress through the Blox Fruit worlds. Band together with other Roblox players to slay foes and farm XP.

Be careful, though! All powers given by Blox Fruit have a corresponding weakness. If you want to reach the top, you’ll have to be smart and strategic in all your battles. Different Blox Fruit can be purchased from different dealers, but they can also randomly spawn on the map every hour or so.

The key to winning is understanding which powers would work best for different situations. The level of strategy and problem-solving skills involved almost makes it feel like a coding activity for kids.

VIII. Speed Run 4

If you love quick and fast-paced platformers, you’re going to love Speed Run 4. Forget agility. Forget caution. Forget dexterity. The name of the game is speed, and that’s exactly what you need in order to win.

Players must sprint through all 31 levels of the game as quickly as possible. First-person to reach the end wins.

Sounds simple? Sure. But the levels aren’t exactly a walk through the park. In fact, they’re downright random.

Level 10 could consist of nothing but bright purple platforms. Level 8 might be a completely white room with no discernible direction. Level 20 might have you racing in circles before you even realize what’s happening.

You can tackle this tricky tower alone or you can gather your friends and storm through different dimensions in true Roblox fashion.

IX. Royale High

Although it’s categorized as an Adventure Roblox game, we think Royale High is more of a fantasy-based RPG. The premise is simple enough. Players control a supernatural character who also happens to be a high schooler from a noble family.

So on top of dealing with powers and/or supernatural quirks, you must also deal with stereotypical high school challenges: socializing, studying, and just generally surviving. You’ll make more friends and relationships if you socialize, but you’ll make better grades if you study.

The higher your grades are, the more in-game currency you can earn. You can then use this in-game currency to buy cosmetic items for your character to improve their visual and social appeal. But don’t worry; the challenges don’t stop there.

Once your character steps out of school, there’s a whole game world just waiting for them to explore.

roblox_workatapizza

X. Work At A Pizza Place

If you love cooking games (especially the ones on mobile), you’re going to love Work At A Pizza Place. You’ve been hired by Builder Brothers’ Pizza to work minimum wage in their esteemed establishment. You get to be the Cashier, the Cook, the Boxer, and the Delivery Mule.

Experience being a rude cashier to entitled customers, a frazzled pizza cook just trying to get the toppings right, a rushed pizza boxer ensuring the pizzas are secure in the box, or a humble pizza delivery person.

The fun doesn’t end when BBP closes, though. Just like Royale High, there’s another aspect to the game waiting just outside the pizza place. When you’re not on the pizza clock, you can also spend your hard-earned wages sprucing up your home. And don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for “Party Island.” That’s another neat side quest the creators managed to slip in.

roblox_piggy

XI. Piggy

This is an episodic Horror game that places deceptively cute, innocent-looking woodland-creature characters in a zombie-apocalyptic setting to create a truly disturbing and unnerving gaming experience.

Players play as police officers investigating the disappearance of one George Pig. Upon arriving at the scene, they’re knocked out. This is the catalyst for a series of grisly events that the player must survive (following pretty strict mechanics, we might add) as they unravel the on-going mystery surrounding the strange new world.

The original Piggy story is now complete, but the creators have confirmed that a second installment (simply titled “Book 2”) is in progress. It’s a story-heavy game that’s perfect for Roblox players who enjoy puzzling, mentally-challenging gameplay with great concepts.

XII. Hide and Seek Extreme

This game is exactly what you expect it to be: a massively multiplayer Hide and Seek game online. Hide to the best of your ability from The Seeker or, if you’re “It,” use the abilities the game gives you to find your friends scattered across the interactive maps. Taunt them out of their hiding space or spot the best hiding places before they do.

Whatever your strategy is, you’re sure to have a great time. After all, the numbers speak for themselves: Hide and Seek Extreme currently boasts over 1.5 billion game visits.

Conclusion

So, there you have it. The 12 best Roblox games to play. Here’s a quick recap:

Of course, 12 isn’t even a fraction of 40 million. It’s barely a dent. We’re well aware that there could be more awesome Roblox games out there for you to try out. However, we highly recommend starting out with these 12 as they’ve been tested, verified, and proven to be safe for a general audience.

The one downside we can see to Roblox is the lack of quality control. Since literally anyone can make a game using Roblox Studio and upload it to the Roblox platform, there’s no way of knowing for sure how safe or kid-friendly the content is going to be.

Rather than risk a trial-and-error process, it’s better to research beforehand. As with everything on the internet, safety first!
